  • I am moving to London on an 18-month contract starting in September. Can people tell me about trips I should make on my weekends off?

When I was working in London, i found it very therapeutic to get as far away from the city as possible when I took weekends. Easyjet runs flights from Gatwick and Luton to Inverness. The flights are cheap, and within an hour and a half your in the heart of the Scottish highlands. Your options up there are endless. If ur feeling particularly adventurous I recommend you make a trip to some of the Hebridean higlands (a couple of hours drive/bus from Inverness). You'll feel literally a world away from the daily grind of London.

  • Over the sea...

I'm not sure a weekend would do it justice, but you have to visit Skye. Surely the most beautiful corner of the United Kingdom. I have travelled in every part of the world, but that island has to be one of the most magnificent places I've ever spent time in.

  • Hotels??

Great recommendations for the trips. Does anyone recommend any good hotels in the Scottish highlands and islands?? The internet is not great for impartial advice, and I find there's nothing more useful when choosing a hotel. Thanks

  • Hotel

There are some great hotels up in the highlands. Recommendations totally depend on what your price range is. A good site reviewing hotels is:
    www.tripadvisor.com
The hotel reviews are based on people who have actually stayed at the hotels in question, so you could say their recommendations are impartial.
