  My dear, I'm an African American and it pains me to read those words. You're a beautiful woman--I know this--because I have mirrors and I know all of us are God's children. How can this man and his family love and respect you when you don't love and respect yourself? Please kick him to the curb and spend the next six months or so, falling in love with yourself. If you do this, the next time you meet a man he will give you the respect you deserve. If he was for real his parents wouldn't be able to stop him from marrying you.
