Alternative education

In addition to academic institutions, Israel has a number of vocational schools. These schools train students in technical skills and prepare them for the workforce.

Vocational schools prepare students for work in industries such as engineering, optometry and nursing. In Israel, students have the option to study for a vocation while in high school. At the completion of high school courses, students receive vocational diplomas. Often, students are ready to enter the workforce upon graduation. Students who excel have the opportunity to receive specialised training at a vocational college.

Vocational colleges offer instruction at an undergraduate university level. These vocational schools teach specialised skills.

Additionally, teacher training schools offer Bachelor's of Education degrees. In order to be a teacher in Israel, you must be certified. The Bachelor's of Education acts as a teaching certificate.
