There are various options for internet access available in Dubai. Internet services differ in terms of access speed, method of connection and price.

If you are searching for internet services with reasonable rates, you should compare different DSL providers to find an internet plan that suits you the best. Even though there are many firms that offer cable connection, many locations only have one company available in the area.

Both Du  and Etisalat  offer a number of packages with various access speeds and types, including 56 kbps-4 Mbps dial-up, ISDN, ADSL, Wifi connection, prepaid internet, cable etc. It is also possible to get a joint cable TV and broadband package. Costs of internet connection in Dubai

The price of signing up for internet connection differs according to the connection type. Sign up fees range between 100 and 200 AED with dial-up being cheaper. Fees for dial-up-connections are around 20 AED per month. On top of that you are charged for the time you use the internet (between 1 and 1.80 AED per hour depending on the time of the day).

Broadband charges differ according to the internet speed and amount of data you retrieve, ranging from 100 AED to 500 AED.

How to get an internet connection at home

To get your internet connection you can visit your provider's office, but you can also apply for the service online. You will need your passport, your residency visa, a copy of these documents and a filled out application form, which can be downloaded online.

Where to get free public internet access

There are a number of places where you can enjoy free wireless internet connection in Dubai, usually in restaurants, cafés and shopping malls. Etisalat runs a webpage  with their complete wireless coverage.

In Dubai, internet webpages are routed through the Emirates Proxy which doesn't allow access to certain sites such as pornography pages, sites including religiously offensive information or sites judging the government.
