Croation friends - why is it so hard?

  • I have been living for 2 months now in Croatia - and all my friends are foreigners!!! Why is it so hard to make Croatian friends? Sometimes I get the impression that they prefer to stay amongst themselves. This is not really what I expected when I came here.

Have you tried to even start learning conversational Croatian? Any culture will pay more attention to you and your needs when you show them care and respect by learning their language..as long as you're attempting to try saying some words...creates the bond. Also, know that you have to get out their, reach out to the locals and ask them for advice on how to understand and work well with the people of that culture.

  • Clueless...

Elana is right, however I understand Sebastian... I came to Croatia like 1 1/2 and so far I keep in touch just with foreigners and a few croatians. Apparently it takes a lot of time for the locals to accept you (for reasons I still don't understand). Obviously I'm learning and practicing some words in croatian but seems they have their own time frame in order to become your pals.
How is it works? that's my question

  • Assistance Needed

    Hi everyone,

I need some helps in translating some Croation Words. I would like to know the meaning of "Tomicevo Pogledalo" in an Itinerary. and the whole sentence in the Itineray is as following:~

After lunch, sightseeing tour the Plitvice Lakes, a wonderland of falls and Tomicevo Pogledalo for views over the park.

Thank you very much for your kind assistance that you are ready to provide. God bless and have a nice day.

    Warmest regards,
