St. Anton

A very special place for skiers

St. Anton

St. Anton regularly makes an appearance of the top lists of ski resorts worldwide. It's compact size, lively après-ski scene and stunning slopes make it a truly premium destination.

St. Anton (full name in German is Sankt Anton am Arlberg) is a small mountain resort in the Tyrol in the West of Austria. The charming centre of town has been fully pedestrianised. Although famous for its skiing, it is also a popular summer destination for hikers, climbers and mountain bikers.

Top ski destination

Skiers of all levels are spoilt for choice – there are over 330 miles of pistes in total: 210 miles of prepared surfaces and 120 miles of deep-snow runs. There are also a large number of off-piste routes (local guide highly recommended). There are a large number of runs suitable for beginners or intermediate level skiers, and many suitably hair-raising pistes for the experienced. The town's website  offers a good range of information, up-to-date information on the status of the pistes and weather forecasts.

All of the runs are accessible on the same pass and the 94 cable cars and lifts help you get around. The quantity of runs means that the skiing doesn't feel too crowded even at the most popular times of year. The NY Times summed up  the reasons to take a holiday in St. Anton as "its size, its people, its magnificent terrain and its ski school."
